Broker's Comments
This sturdy ocean going Sigma 400 yacht, designed by Rob Humphries, has very little mileage on her having been de-commissioned in 2003 for a period of 12 years.
Just 3 seasons ago in 2015, the current owners started their investment programme to get her ready for some serious offshore sailing.
The list of upgrades is quite staggering and includes;
New Beta 30hp engine 2017.
New Selden mast & standing rigging (2015),
New McWilliams mainsail (2017). New Rudder.
The latest Garmin GPSmap7410 system looks after the nav and new upholstery was fitted (2015) along with new cockpit teak.
The hull has been copper-coated and all safety equipment is new and complies with
OSR Category 2 for offshore sailing.
Ideally the owners would like to sell a 1/5th share in the boat and to continue their extensive sailing programme for 2018 which includes the 'Round Ireland' yacht race and the increasingly popular ISORA series.
It really is a massive commitment to own and prepare a 40 footer for offshore races like The Fastnet or D2D, so if you wanted to dip your toe into it first, with like-minded individuals who share your passion, then this may be an ideal way for you to join a team who have done all the preparation and have put some good miles under the keel in the last couple of years.
Some of the recent highlights on the water include 10th Overall in ISORA, 2nd in the St. Kilda and a superb 4th in Class in the notoriously difficult 2017 D2D race, as well as completing the Fastnet Race.
If you would like to join this team of offshore enthusiasts, then please do get in touch.
If you are planning a campaign of your own, then we would be delighted to arrange a viewing at your convenience.
