This week we'll be taking a look at the Nutshell 26. This catamaran is an exciting new design by Southwell Designs and built by Further Composites in South Africa. Designed to be a very manoeuvrable catamaran with a simple rig and one sail, twin engines and tiller controlled rudders. She has excellent visibility and a control system that allows it to turn in its own length.

Comfortable accommodation and an equipped galley makes this compact 26ft leisure catamaran ideal for couples. The spacious aft deck has everything needed for extended (4-6 days) cruising. Generous open areas can be enclosed in inclement weather but allow life to continue al-fresco most of the time with large opening doors and windows at deck-height.

The boat fits into an international standard 40 foot container and can be shipped anywhere with a port. It also narrows and can be towed behind an SUV. The mast itself can be lowered and stores on the coachroof for transport or to pass under bridges.
