Boarding astern is from a large swim platform though the transom door. The covered cockpit is large enough for several deck chairs. The sturdily-built wide sliding aft cabin door provides entry to the full-beam saloon, which is much larger than would be expected in a boat this size. The galley is forward starboard and features granite countertops, a large Nova Kool over/under refrigerator/freezer, Princess electric cooktop stove, and a microwave. Just aft of the galley is an open space with a comfortable recliner chair. To port in the salon is convertible sofa with a storage cabinet and countertop/bar forward of it. Just forward and down is the day head -- complete with shower capability -- and an entry into the engineroom. A cabinet in the saloon stores the Samsung 26" flat panel LED TV, which deploys and rotates for viewing. This boat is equipped with a KVH TV3 satellite dish (2015) for DISH or DirectTV.
The pilothouse is just two steps up from the salon and is not isolated as on many other pilothouse models. The L-shaped dinette allows three or four guests to enjoy the pilothouse while underway. Cushions are new 2016 -- Navy Sunbrella with Sand piping. The pilothouse settee converts to a single pilot berth. The helm station is to starboard, and features a sliding helm seat with a moveable bolster for leaning if desired. Forward visibility from the helm station is excellent, and because of the low pilothouse design it's possible to view the aft quarters directly from the helm seat also (unusual in a pilothouse model). Sliding pilothouse doors port and starboard allow easy access to the dock, the foredeck or to the flybridge.
Footwells with high bulwarks provide security when exiting the pilothouse, and the wide, full-size steps to the flybridge make access safe and easy. There are no vertical ladders!
The master cabin has a queen bed, hanging lockers port and starboard, six storage drawers, two storage cabinets, and separate head and shower compartments.
The flybridge has a pedestal helm seat and L-shaped settee. As with the entire exterior of the boat, the design of the flybridge is uncluttered and intended to be simple to maintain and easy to clean.
Cabin heat/air is provided by two Webasto reverse-cycle systems of 16,000 BTU each. And for fresh air this boat has nine opening windows (including an opening windshield window), five opening stainless steel portlights, and two overhead hatches.
Other features include: central vacuum; Sirius XM satellite radio with wireless Bose system; brass ship's clock.

Broker's Comments
This Helmsman Trawlers 38 Pilothouse is well-outfitted and has only about 1400 hours. She appears in excellent condition. The white gel coat topsides and the stainless steel rails and fittings are almost entirely unblemished and the blue hull looks good. The beautiful interior is equally clean and well-maintained.
The flybridge cowling is designed to be removed relatively easily achieving under 14' bridge clearance height. Its buyer can have the boat trucked economically over land to a new home.
Originally imported and sold as a Mariner Yachts International 37 Seville Pilothouse, this model is the predecessor to the current Helmsman Trawlers 38 Pilothouse and is dimensionally equal.
This boat gives the impression of being much larger than its size implies with a very roomy interior and a design that includes a full-beam saloon, a day head, separate master head and shower compartments, and an extended pilothouse that actually serves as a comfortable living area in addition to its piloting function.
The quality of materials and construction are evident with teak and holly floors, beautiful teak joinery, heavy deck fittings and handrails, sturdy deck sections, and thick engine compartment sound insulation.
You'd be hard-pressed to fit more boat into a 40' slip. Its 425 hp electronically-controlled Cummins QSB 5.9 engine turns down nicely, and operates smoothly and quietly. She performs frugally at 7 or 8 knots, and has the power to get up and go when needed. Also included are an Onan 5 kw generator, reverse-cycle heat/air, a 2012 AB dinghy with outboard, and numerous recent upgrades and additions.
Compare this boat to a Nordic Tug 37 or 39, or to an American Tug 34, 365, or 395. You'll find that the Helmsman Trawlers is roomier, has a more finely-crafted interior, and is built to an impressive standard.
