The construction method is referred to as "stitch and glue". Devlin is the key innovator of this method of boatbuilding. Marine plywood panels are precision cut and “sewn” together with wire "stitches" to form the hull and house. Seams are taped with fiberglass cloth and epoxy, the exterior is completely fiberglassed, and the interior sealed in epoxy. This creates a monocoque vessel that is light weight, strong, and easy-to-maintain. Additionally, this type of construction creates a very quiet running boat.
The water tank is constructed of wood/epoxy.
Holding tank is Poly
Fuel tanks are constructed of aluminum -- two engine fuel tanks.
Waterline Boats / Boatshed did not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

Total # of berths | 2 |

No. of double berths | 1 |
Cabin(s) | 1 |
Sink | 1 |
Shower | 1 |
Heads | 1 heads (Electric) |
Boarding is from the swim step or side of cockpit and into the cabin via the companion way door from the cockpit.
The large cockpit is perfect (and designed) for sport fishing (including port and starboard down rigger power connections) or for chairs to sit out and enjoy the fresh air (or both). There is plenty of storage under the gunnels for fenders, and lines along with two sealed lazarette lockers on either side of the engine compartment. The propane gas canister is very conveniently located under the starboard gunnel providing room for easy changing. The engine compartment is aft and center containing the 200hp Volvo Penta diesel engine. The swim step has both a swim ladder and the davits for the Lit’l Petrel dinghy which allows for easy deployment of the dinghy from the step. An aft helm station is located on the starboard side of the companionway door to the cabin including wheel, throttle/shift electronics and a bow thruster control.
Coming into the salon you will immediately notice the size and warmth of the wood and leather nautical interior. You will also be surprised to find separate shower and head compartments which is unusual for a boat this size with the shower to starboard and head to port and both have more than ample room in them. A dinette with hi/lo table is to port, and is convertible to a double berth. A long galley to starboard includes a single deep sink, a 2-burner propane stove and oven and a refrigerator with freezer. On the counter top along the starboard salon wall you will find unique storage along with stacked shelving on the galley/shower wall. There is plenty of galley and dinette storage cabinetry as well. The cabin is heated with a Propex propane forced air furnace.
At the well-equipped helm to starboard you will find comfortable fixed seating and everything you need to operate the boat, from the wheel and navigation instruments to the gauges and radio all within easy reach of the helm seat. To port there is an equally comfortable co-helm seat.
Between the helm and co-helm seats you will find a step down to the spacious v-berth area with the electrical panel to starboard and on the side of the helm station. The V-berth itself is very comfortably appointed with comfortable seat/bed cushions and includes a large storage locker on the port side and book shelf to starboard. The berth can be made up as two single berths or a large and roomy double berth. Forward you will find a cabinet that provides a hanging locker and access to the anchor locker.
Access around the exterior is easy, with comfortable wide side decks and a large forward deck.

VIRTUAL TOUR - VIDEO - 72 PHOTOS - FULL SPECS CAN BE VIEWED OF THIS VESSEL!
This Devlin 31 Black Crown is a wonderful custom-built power cruiser in extremely good condition. She has been so well maintained and detailed that she looks like a new boat.
She exemplifies the excellent reputation that Devlin Designing Boatbuilding has in the boat building industry for its high-quality designs and construction.
Boathouse-kept, she appears in immaculate condition. This is a boat an owner will take immediate pride in (as the previous owner has) and at a cost well below a new custom built Devlin boat, furthermore she is ready to start up and go!
She is constructed with the Devlin “stitch and glue” method that has been developed and refined by Sam Devlin. Economical and seaworthy with a 200 hp Volvo Penta engine, this boat has a great range of 450 miles at 18 knots, with 145 gallons of fuel capacity and she has the best of both worlds, the ability to get up and go to get you there quickly or throttle back and take it all in! She is very well equipped with electronics, autopilot, fore and aft helm stations and includes a great Lit'l Petrel dinghy.
A boathouse in Shelton, WA. is also available for sale with this boat.
