Broker's Comments
She is an amazingly well kept version of the venerable Contessa 26. This sure-footed little pocket cruiser was manifested in 1966 when Jeremy Rogers, with a background in traditional wooden boatbuilding, along with one of his Folkboat customers, David Sadler, designed the Contessa for long-distance racing. With a deep keel and a hull-mounted rudder, these Contessas proved to be very successful racers.
She is in extraordinarily great condition for a boat of this vintage. Clearly doted on and constantly improved by her current owners, she underwent a complete refit in 2015 by Casey Yacht Enterprises of Freeport, Maine. She received a new Yanmar 12hp diesel in 2017, and a long list of upgrades.
In addition, when she arrived here in the UK, she was fully detailed and ceramic coated above the waterline and topsides, by Detaglio Finishing in Cowes.
She has a new Featherstream prop and a brand new Volvo Seal on the prop, in place of a stern gland.
Further upgrades late 2017 and 2018.
All new electronics, pushpit and pulpit, perspex washboards , new loo, safety equipment , solar battery charger and solar cabin vent.
Also, the best setup backstay adjuster by Ocean Rigging, new deck cushions, ceramic coating, hull faired.
New unused sails from Sanders in 2021, main, furling jib, AP kite and light kite, cruising chute.
if you are looking for the best example of a venerable Contessa 26, look no further!
