Broker's Comments
Built in 1959 by Gamplin of Goole, this very pretty Humber Keel (Sheffield Class) barge worked on various canals around Hull and Manchester as a British Waterways Mud Hopper. She was skillfully converted as a live-aboard in 1999.
She's a striking boat, resplendent in her original British Waterways working colours and with a truly immaculate interior. There's plenty of space below, with a roomy saloon and good sized double bedroom (with a 'proper' bed' and fitted cupboards). The engine, an ultra-reliable and economical Perkins Sabre, turns at the first press of the button and just purrs away. She comes with a good history of works completed and wants for nothing.
The boat comes with a good recent structural survey undertaken by the current owners in October 2011.
This is a great central London (Zone 2) home for a single or couple. The mooring is fully residential in a secure, gated marina which is very close to Canary Wharf and the City. This is a popular and convenient location, with tubes, buses, trains and the river bus all close to hand, as well as supermarkets, bars, restaurants and shops. The marina supports a vibrant and friendly live-aboard community.
