Broker's Comments
Originally a working barge delivering silk on the canals of Amsterdam, this barge was converted to a live aboard in the fifties. She could be equally at home on the river, where she is currently moored, or on the canal, where she has cruised with her current owners.
Almost the full length of the ship, the cabin maximises the interior space and deck. It was repainted (2 undercoat, 3 top) from bare metal in 2011 (after two weeks of angle grinding the old paint off!). (It has received a further coat in March 2012). The hull was surveyed, reinforced and painted (2 undercoat, 3 top) in Sigmacote in 2010.
With plenty of space for living, possessions and storage, this boat would be ideal for an individual or couple looking for an alternative to a flat. Unlike many live-aboards, she has an open plan living space and large bedroom with space for a queen size with mattress and storage beneath.
Another unusual feature is the windows size and placement. They are large and run most of the length of the boat on either side and have Chelsea railings attached to the outside for added security. The interior has also been designed to give easy access to engine room, bilges and front storage / water tanks.
The boat has been brought up to spec to meet all British safety standards and has safety certification still in date. The engine runs well and the owner has manuals, maps and contacts for mechanics and electricians who have worked on the boat in the past.
She is currently moored in Richmond, on a non-residential mooring.
This is an ideal boat for the Central London pied a terre lifestyle.
