Perkins diesel engines were fitted to Fargo and Dodge trucks sold in the United States and internationally, and were factory installed in numerous Chrysler Europe vehicles. The English company was started in 1932 as F. Perkins Ltd., and in 1933 they sold 35 lightweight, high-speed diesel engines to Commer, which would eventually be purchased by Chrysler. By 1936, 140 employees had cranked out 556 diesels; the following year, P4 and P6 engines were launched, the latter designed for marine applications. Charles Chapman, technical director at the time, was credited with engineering these series. The revolutionary new engine developed 83bhp at 2400 rpm.
During World War II, Perkins built over 12,000 engines, mainly marine diesels. This engine is believed to be a wartime engine so it adds to the mystique of this vessel.

This Dutch barge has gorgeous lines and looks to have been very well maintained by her owner. She appears on the Red List of support vessels during the war and it is believed that she looked out for mines being laid by the enemy. The current owner has had her out of the water, attended to any welding, and had the best Jotun Marina Paints two pack system applied. Originally designed as a cutter rigged sailing barge, the owner has the old spars which would make a template for new ones if required.

This barge is intriguing, she has the authentic Art-Deco cabinets in the main saloon and in the aft-cabin. I think the uphostery may be from the same era too and the saloon chairs are very much in the Art-Deco style too. The vessel is light and airey. The owner is in the process of fitting a double bed into the forward cabin and a large shower area into the aft. If anyone comes along to see the vessel and has different ideas then this can be taken into consideration. There are so many interesting details on this vessel that you have to come and see her for yourself. Bright and airey accommodation throughout and oozing character this barge is a lovely home for anyone who does not want a plastic fantastic!

This is an historic Dutch barge, originally believed to be designed as a Cutter rigged sailing barge. The owner has lots of history relating to previous ownership of this superb vessel. She played a vital role in wartime, keeping surveillance on potential mines being laid by the enemy. The current owner has spent lots of money and care on this amazing barge (there is a photographic account of the works carried out). She will attract the type of person who appreciates character, history and attention to detail.
She appears on the Red list of Boats that were utilised during the war and the owner is still in the process of uncovering other information about her.
