The base model of this boat is priced with 5.7 liter, raw water cooled, 315 HP engines. While the upgrade 8.1 liter, fresh water cooled engines installed in this boat represent a 45% increase in size they boost horse power by 17%. This engineering by Volvo-Penta was designed to provide an increase in fuel economy and extended engine life. The sellers report 1800 RPM yields 6-9 knots current dependent. 3400-3800 RPM yields 27 knots again current dependent. Regarding fuel consumption the seller reports the following, We made it to Ilwaco from Portland Yacht Club in 3.5 hours, using 150 gallons of fuel. That's 43 gallons per hour or 21 per engine mostly at 3600-3800 rpm. Winds were calm and the river current was minuscule as it was in August. Most often we run at about 10 knots (2200 rpm) unless there's up to a 6 knot current which we see in the Columbia in the spring and sometimes in the winter. At that rate of speed, we usually do something around 5-10 gallons per hour per engine.
