Broker's Comments
I am very pleased to be able to bring this rare and stylish Capriole 850 diesel river cruiser to the market. These spacious and well built craft are based on the sporty Falcon 27 hull and designed specifically for river use. These boats offer the style, look and accommodation of the highly respected and popular Falcon, in a single diesel,user- friendly (and most importantly) simple to operate package, for safe and comfortable river cruising for all levels of boating experience.
This charming vessel has been cruised extensively on the Norfolk Broads by her current owners for the last 16 years.
She is powered by a very nice-starting and running Volvo Penta MD22 59HP diesel engine which is smooth and quiet and runs very nicely indeed. She is shaft driven so benefits from reduced drive-train maintenance (compared to outdrives), and has been used almost every weekend of every season the owners have had her.
She boasts a large cockpit with two forward- facing seats that allow up to three people to sit forward as you cruise, enjoying the view through the large curved screen. The aft seating area is L shaped, leather trimmed and can seat 6 in comfort. This spacious area has two tables - one small and one large that also mounts with an infill to convert the seating area to a large sun-pad, using the infill cusion that is also trimmed to match the seating
Her interior is all original wood, just as she left the factory, and seems to not have been varied or had holes drilled or items mounted here and there through her life, so is very original. In my opinion the wood could benefit from a new coat of varnish.
Her U-shaped saloon seating area is currently being re-upholstered, so this will be brand new and back on the boat early April. The pictures just show the seat mouldings.
She has diesel heating so can cruise all year.
The fully fitted and functional galley with hob, oven and basin with fridge under is to starboard and the large heads and shower compartment is to port giving this boat extended cruising facilities that are sure to impress.
The main double berth is found in its own cabin separate from the saloon, under the cockpit, and is completed with a fold down stool and dresser unit.
She has the added benefit of an electric windlass for anchoring on lazy summer days without any effort and a large forward coachroof that is perfect for lying out and relaxing.
Her cockpit has a substantial stanless steel arch which folds down to allow clearance under bridges and she is currently photographed with her winter canopy fitted. Her summer canopy is being refurbished and will be returned to the boat in April.
With her safe and full width swim platform and transom entry she is easy to board and stern moor, and easy to manage single handed should you wish.
She starts instantly and is a delight to drive.
She is due to come out of the water in the next couple of weeks for fresh antifoul and an engine service ready for the new season.
This rare boat offers a comfortable cruising experience for a couple or small family and will not disappoint, especially with her frugal yet quiet diesel power and sports boat looks.
