A defined "cruising speed" as stated above is a bit of a misnomer. Thanks to the unique hull design and powerful propulsion the boat cruises very well at any speed up to its max speed. Unlike conventional semi-displacement hulls or planing hulls there is no awkward speed to avoid. So pick your favorite speed and set your throttle!
TAMD-41P six-cylinder turbo-diesel - quiet running and reliable power. A well-regarded engine with only 1050 hours.
Keypower bow thruster.
Engine has dual alternators for house and start banks. DC system upgrade includes 3-step regulator, monitor, and a total of four house batteries. Batteries were replaced in 2010. 1750 watt Xantrex inverter and Xantrex TrueCharge 40+ charger.

The hull design of the Camano 31 is unique and well-regarded for its stability, seaworthiness, and efficiency. The deep, hollow v-shaped keel provides about 25% of the hull's displacement, and above displacement speeds helps lift the stern so that water runs cleanly off the transom, thus maintaining a more linear speed-fuel relationship up to 18 knots. An additional benefit of the Keelform hull is that the engine is mounted in the keel, lowering the center of gravity. The boat heels very little even in tight turns. The owners speak of its stable performance in difficult sea conditions and its fuel efficiency, especially at speeds from 10 - 14 knots that are difficult for planing or displacement hulls of this size. Generous bow flare (unlike others in this class) keeps the spray down.
Prop and rudder are protected by a skeg.
The exceptionally large window area is subdivided into enough segments that structural rigidity is maintained.
Solid, hand-laid fiberglass below the waterline, with foam coring above the waterline. The windlass and deck fixtures are backed with metal backing plates.
Extensive sound-deadening insulation is used in the cabin floor, making the boat unusually quiet in operation.
This boat was professionally surveyed in and out of the water during May 2013 with only three extremely minor findings, reflecting both its durable construction and its ongoing care.

Broker's Comments
This 2005 Camano 31 is a rare find -- fully outfitted for cruising, with electronics and a good complement of equipment, and in exceptionally good condition with low hours. Her cabin is pristine, with designer updates, and her engine room fairly gleams!
The Camano 31 is a well-known Northwest boat and was designed for these waters -- ready to handle a wide range of conditions, sturdy, simple to operate and maintain, workboatlike in appearance, capable of comfortable long-range cruising, and with an amazingly large interior space. A study of the photos of the boat demonstrates that it would be literally impossible to design a boat with better 360-degree visibility and more light.
While the Camano 31 line has not exhibited dramatic changes over time, this late model 31 enjoys the benefits of an exceptional continuous-improvement process. All the hoses and wires and fasteners are precisely run. The engine room is practically a work of industrial art. Everything fits exactly as it should. The Camano 31 embodies the "less is more" philosophy to perfection. The result is a boat that is simple to operate and maintain and yet capable of duty as a stout little ship.
The bridgedeck is surprisingly large with room for many guests (and really, who doesn't have use for such space on a nice day?). The flybridge is positioned far forward for excellent visibility. The lower helm offers excellent all-around excellent visibility.
We hear time and again about the confidence that owners have in these boats under difficult sea conditions. There is nothing in this class as tough or as capable as a Camano.
