Finish | Gelcoat finish |
The Bayliner 45 is all fiberglass construction with a solid hardtop extending over the large cockpit area and a built in radar arch. On this boat the radar arch has been substantially strengthened and rebuilt. The exterior and interior of this vessel is in very good, essentially new condition with many upgrades and improvements by the owner. The overall impression of the boat is that it is essentially a new boat with glossy, flawless gelcoat and beautiful finish on the teak trim around the cockpit. The sliding doors on both sides of the pilothouse have been modified and improved so they work smoothly. The engine compartment is clean and well organized. New batteries were installed in 2010. An exterior stainless steel rub strip has been installed on the hull sides.

One enters through a large gate in the transom off the very large and solid swim step. The cockpit is also very large with three big hatches opening up the lazarette area and providing access to the generator. The cockpit and aft bulkhead are trimmed with solid teak. A sliding teak door leads into the main living area with built in seating to port, and a U shaped galley forward to port on the same level. A propane range has been installed replacing the original electric version. The galley sink has been replaced with a double depth stainless sink. The galley also includes a trash compactor and a new, full size refrigerator/freezer. A central vacuum system serves the entire boat. Each compartment is heated with a Webasto hydronic system.
A stair down leads to a central hallway with a VIP guest cabin with double berth to port and a large head with separate shower to starboard. Forward is the owner's stateroom with island queen berth, head and separate enclosed tub/shower to starboard. Both heads are equipped with Masterflush electric toilets. To port from the master cabin is a separate guest cabin with two single berths that can also be configured as a couch and writing desk.
Up stairs from the main salon is the pilothouse with an expansive instrument panel and central steering station. Bullt-in seating with table is fitted on the port side behind the steering station and can serve as a pilot berth. A stair up and aft leads to the flying bridge with full steering station, seating for several guests and a Boston Whaler tender on a davit with powered winch. The flying bridge deck extends aft as a hardtop over the cockpit. The wrap around windscreen on the flying bridge is new and in perfect condition.
On both sides of the pilothouse, sliding doors lead out to the forward deck with a lounge area and access to the anchor windlass. Everything on this boat looks and works like new.
The owner has removed the notoriously troublesome built-in laundry machine normally found in the lower hallway on these boats and has set up that space for additional storage.
The engine compartment can be accessed through the stairs to the lower hallway, by lifting the flooring of the main salon or through the lazarette from the cockpit. The engine compartment is clean and well organized.

Broker's Comments
This is an exceptional example of the Bayliner 4550. It is in beautiful condition both inside or out. In many ways it is better than new condition. It is a capable and economical cruiser with great accommodations for six in three cabins plus additional berthing possible in the salon and pilothouse.
