The hull design of the Camano 31 is unique and well-regarded for its stability, seaworthiness, and efficiency. The deep, hollow v-shaped keel provides about 25% of the hull's displacement, and above displacement speeds helps lift the stern so that water runs cleanly off the transom, thus maintaining a more linear speed-fuel relationship up to 18 knots. An additional benefit of the Keelform hull is that the engine is mounted in the keel, lowering the center of gravity. The boat heels very little even in tight turns. The owners speak of its stable performance in difficult sea conditions and its fuel efficiency, especially at speeds from 10 - 14 knots that are difficult for planing or displacement hulls of this size.

Prop and rudder are protected by a skeg.

The exceptionally large window area is subdivided into enough segments that structural rigidity is maintained.

Solid, hand-laid fiberglass below the waterline, with foam coring above the waterline. The windlass and deck fixtures are backed with metal backing plates.

Extensive sound-deadening insulation is used in the cabin floor, making the boat unusually quiet in operation.

Broker's Comments

The Camano 31 is a well-known Pacific Northwest Trawler, but has also earned an enthusiastic following on the East Coast. It provides unexpectedly large interior volume for its length, and is designed with fantastic all-around visibility. She is purposefully designed to be simple to operate and easy to maintain. This boat is very nice around the dock with the Keelform design and bow thruster. And she has the reputation (after hundreds of journeys by owners) of performing well in challenging sea conditions. The fuel economy is excellent, yet she will move you away from a storm at 17 knots.
She is very clean, dry and even smells good. Ready to go with the turn of the key and some supplies.
